Melinda Molnár-Madarász is an internationally acclaimed fashion designer known for fusing traditional Hungarian folk art with contemporary style. By collaborating with local artisans and researching historical garments, she creates collections that seamlessly balance tradition and innovation.
A graduate of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Melinda honors craftsmanship while introducing modern functionality. Her journey began with a diploma collection inspired by Kalocsa’s folk dress, which laid the foundation for her distinctive design philosophy. She has since expanded her focus to regions like Matyó and Kalotaszeg, notably reviving the nearly forgotten ornamental heritage of the Barkó region. In her latest collection, she highlights the Gömör region’s distinctive white “knotted” embroidery.
Melinda's groundbreaking designs have garnered many prestigious awards, including the Special Prize at the Hungarian Design Award, and earned her recognition in cities like Beijing, Milan, New York, and Washington, D.C.
