Join us on the morning of February 8th as we celebrate the magic of Farsang—Hungary’s beloved carnival season. Organized by the Tulipán Foundation in collaboration with the Hungarian Parent-Teacher Association of New York, this beloved annual celebration takes place from 9:30am to 12:30pm at the Hungarian House in New York City.
We invite families to join us in their most playful masks and costumes as we bid farewell to winter and welcome the season of renewal. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with friends, meet new faces, and celebrate the customs that have brought our community together for centuries.
As in past years, we’re excited to offer immersive experiences that reflect Hungary’s rich cultural heritage, including the making of traditional masks and noisemakers. A short presentation about Busójárás, the famous Hungarian tradition of the Busó masks and the celebration in Mohács, will offer insight into the history and significance of this unique custom. In true Farsang spirit, you can also expect a vibrant parade of costumes, with traditional folk music playing in the background.
Celebrations will continue with a festive dress-up game, photo booth, and unforgettable doughnut-eating contest, which always brings laughter and excitement as participants try to devour doughnuts without the use of their hands.
We can’t wait to celebrate the spirit of Carnival with you. Registration is now open, and this popular event fills up quickly. Click here to reserve your spot today.
