The holiday season is a time for giving, and this year, the Tulipán Foundation is excited to support the Hungarian Community Club of Wallingford in bringing the magic of St. Nick’s Day to life at their annual celebration on Sunday, December 8, 2024. The Hungarian Community Club has long been a cornerstone of the Hungarian-American community in Connecticut, providing a vibrant space for people to connect with their heritage, share traditions, and support one another, which is something we’re proud to help nurture.
In keeping with our commitment to providing holistic support for artists and organizations alike, the Tulipán Foundation is thrilled to sponsor a series of crafting workshops at this celebration to create an unforgettable experience for all ages. Much like our annual event in New York City, these hands-on activities, led by talented folk artists and teachers from Hungary, will invite guests to engage in creating traditional holiday decorations, such as ornament weaving, painting, doll-making, and leather embossing.
As always, another highlight of the day will be a special visit from St. Nick himself. Children will have the opportunity to meet St. Nick, sit on his lap, and receive a traditional Mikulás csomag—a red bag filled with sweet treats. In addition to this heartwarming moment, families will be immersed in the magic of the season through Regölés, a cherished Hungarian tradition of singing and storytelling that spreads joy and good wishes.
